If it got any more laid back in Muy Wayne O’s, it would almost be okay to break wind out loud. This chill Mexican dive is beloved by its regulars who clearly shun the establishment vibe of Pier Park.Â

The Vibe.
Let’s go out for a romantic date at Muy Wayne O’s. Said no one ever.Â
With that said, I imagine quite a few hookups have happened here with the help of the aphrodisiacal drinks and a kissing booth. Â
Frogs are the thing here for some reason. Just go sit at the bar and try to count them all. Need a cigarette break yet? Your relaxation station is merely steps away on the party porch.Â
What a Woman Should Wear: Those shorts that are a little too tight. Underwear may or may not be optional.
At The Table Next to Us: I think it was definitely Ernest Hemingway and Peg Bundy.
Looks Like an Occasion for: Binging after a heartbreak. Escaping your mother-in-law.
The Food.
Honestly reminds me of some dive food I had in the 90s in Acuna, Mexico – just over the border from Del Rio, Texas. That can be muy bueno depending on what you’re expecting.Â
Frozen margaritas look a lot like a river in Mexico but pack a punch that quickly gives you that peaceful, easy feeling.Â
On the menu are brisket nachos – quite good enough and easily filling enough for two.Â
If food were ever described as not stressful, this would be the place. Not too expensive, not too small, not too strange.Â
Don’t Miss: Brisket enchiladas, or pretty much anything with the brisket made by that Texan owner.
The Service.
It’s hard to imagine an employee training manual existing in any shape or form. It’s almost like you’re in some stranger’s house down the street, and if their dog likes you, then you’re totally legit.
One of the bartenders seems to have been there her whole adult life and I wouldn’t be surprised if she was on a first-name basis with the late Anthony Bourdain and maybe Gregg Almann, too.
Nobody seems to be in any particular hurry, but it’s an easy place to stay a while.Â
Level of Happiness
Feeling fine. Not sure you could ever really have a bad time here unless you’re feeling extra OCD or missing being at home with your cat.
Suggestion Box: Go a little heavier on the meat. Seriously update the website.
Number of Cats Spotted: Zero. Def the biggest negative about this place but it sits on a bad traffic corner for felines anyway.Â
